I appreciate that helmets are a personal choice and that you and your staff took note of the safety bars. Loved this season! Great work! Now if the snow would just stop in Ontario so I can justify a trip out West and maybe one to Chile this summer!! Enjoy the summer, be safe and can't wait for another great season next year!

Comment By: Chris Robinson

Hi Ashley,
Your comments are well taken. Regarding helmets we support the ski industry position (which is endorsed by the CSPS) that helmets, while recommended, are a matter of personal choice. Actually, the hosts do wear helmets on occasion (their choice). Check out the Kicking Horse feature in our Video Player under the section 'World of Skiing - Current Season' right here on the web site. You will notice that Edith wears a helmet for this show. Regarding the safety bar, I fully agree with you and this is something we missed in production. I actually discussed this last week with our Producer who made the point that he had not noticed this shot when putting the show together. We should not have allowed that to go to air, and more importantly, we should make sure the hosts have the bar down whenever riding a chairlift! So, the bottom line is that I support your concerns, helmets being a personal choice notwithstanding. Thanks for your comments and enjoy the balance of the season.

I only have two major issues with the show as of recently. I currently teach in Ontario but have spent time in Whistler and Australia and no matter where I have been we have always been told to promote helmets. Therefore my first major concern rests in the fact that both hosts never wear helmets. And I must say on a side note that the trusty helmet has saved my life on hill twice.
My second concern also has to do with safety. I have noticed now with both hosts that in certain segments when being shot from either another chair or from below that the safety bar is not down. I was unaware that just because you are a ski host you gained special priveledges! How, as ski professionals are we ever supposed to get serious about ski safety if we don't promote it on one of Canada's most watched ski entertainment shows. I am a young ski professional and am truly concerned about these issues. If we don't do something about them as a organization how will they ever be solved. Come on guys get with the times. Helmets are cool and the safety bar really isn't that bad!

Comment By: Chris Robinson

Hey M-P! Great to hear from you... Although I'm a little scared that my singing still stands out in your memory! As an aside, but an interesting addition to the Sister Golden Hair story, I actually had dinner in the mid-90's with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell from America. How this came about is a story in itself but they might not have been so hospitable had they known that I chose their tune to butcher in my occasional misguided karaoke adventures! Anyway, hope you and Jim are well. We received your e-mail about the Monashee show and will respond directly. Cheers, Chris

Comment By: M-P Kennedy

Dear Chris, it's been a long time since we heard you sing kareoke and you were pretty good then (sister golden hair surprise? ha ha). Any chance you'll sing for your viewers pleasure next season? I sent you a request for the show on the Monashees Cat Skiing on the main email address, let me know if you get it - with Jim and Todd in it - I heard it was one scary ride out there, but so worth it! Stay in touch.
