Arai Mountain, Japan
ARAI is situated next to the Myoko Kogen ski area in Niigata Prefecture. It’s been described as one of the most beautiful winter sports areas in Japan.
Ideally located on a 1,020 hectare property at the foot of Mount Ohgenashi (1,429 meters). ARAI’s close proximity to the Japan Sea ensures snowfall depths of 400-600 centimeters between January to April, which enables up to five months of quality skiing conditions in most years.
ARAI has a broad based appeal with both skiers and snowboarders(approximately 44:56 ratio). Skiers at all levels have fun on the Resort’s eleven ski trails. Runs are approximately 30% “beginner”, 45% “intermediate” and 25% “advanced”, with the longest run being 5.2 kilometers. Freeskiers and snowboarders rate the resort particularly highly, partially because of its off-piste skiing opportunities.
