Canadian Ski Council Honours Industry Leader with 2007 Judith Kilbourne Award

The Canadian Ski Council (CSC) is pleased to announce that Chris Robinson has been chosen as the the winner of the 2007 Judith Kilbourne Founders Award for his outstanding contributions to the Canadian ski industry. Chris is the host and producer of the Ski Television program, Chairman of the International Ski Federation's Freestyle Skiing Committee, President of the Canadian Snowsports Association and a Director of the Canadian Ski Council Board of Directors and a board member of the Ski Canada Foundation.

The award will be presented to Mr. Robinson at a special ceremony during the CSC's annual Canadian Snow Industry Symposium, on Tuesday, July 24th , 2007, at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ont.

Over the last 30 years Chris Robinson has worked as a competitive freestyle skier, a coach, an instructor, a ski event organizer and a television personality and producer. "Chris is truly deserving of this award," says Dave Cormier, chairman of the Canadian Ski Council. "His television work has brought skiing and snowboarding into the homes of millions of Canadians, and he has also worked tirelessly behind the scenes, both nationally and internationally, to help ensure the future of Canadian Snowsports."

The Judith Kilbourne Founders Award, the Canadian Snowsports industry's top national award, is presented each year to an individual who has made an outstanding and long-term commitment to the ski and snowboard industry in Canada, working as both a professional and volunteer. The winner of the award must demonstrate a love for snowboarding and/or alpine and cross-country skiing, and show a determination to maintain the importance of winter sports for Canadians.

Chris Robinson began his career in 1975 as an amateur freestyle ski competitor. He quickly moved to the pro ranks where he competed successfully for four years. In 1979 he was hired to coach the Canadian Junior Freestyle Team. Soon after, he began organizing ski competitions across Canada. In 1985 he joined the Ski Base television program as a contributor, and in 1993 acquired the independent production rights to the show, which became the Pontiac World of Skiing. His production company, Double Black Diamond Productions, has also produced coverage for many other Snowsports events including host coverage of snowboarding at the Torino games.

Chris has devoted many years of work and volunteer time to ski organizations including the Canadian Snowsports Association, the Canadian Ski Council and the International Ski Federation.
