PERSONAL PERFORMANCE TIPS
Happy, Quick Feet
You know these new skis are so great, they are carving toys but I am mindful that I don't wanna become a one dimensional carving kind of skier only and I’ll have more to say on that after the break, stay with us.
So the situation here and I’ve got some beautiful short skis with lots of side cut. But I wanna make sure I don't become one dimensional in my skiing just kind of going from edge to edge like that all the time 'cause with the new skis there's the temptation just to kind of ride the edge and it feels sort of heavy and a bit slow and it feels great and you get these great carving turns but I wanna be sure to use a different approach in each different situation.
Carving turns, feet apart, steady build up of pressure.
Just kind of going from edge to edge sure doesn't work so well in big, honkin' bumps when really I just want happy feet. And to get your happy feet feeling practice little quick turns on the slats then take them into the bumps and it's the same kind of a tempo, press down just for a second.
Whereas with the feet apart carving turns edge to edge I’m pressing or developing pressure for a much longer time and it can be addictive because these skis are so great. They turn so easily but be careful maybe you, too are uh, in danger of becoming one dimensional if all you do is kind of keep your feet apart and just sort of go edge to edge.
Be an all mountain skier. Get those feet together on the bumps and go for quick, happy feet. Hope that works for you.
