BLOWING THE COMPETITION AWAY
Since it opened in 1980, the General Motors wind tunnel testing facility in Detroit, Michigan has been used by automotive engineers to improve the aerodynamic performance of GM vehicles. And for the fourth year in a row, the Canadian Alpine Ski Team is using the facility to help its skiers produce faster times in hopes of becoming the best in the world.
Inside the tunnel, members of Canada’s national men's and women's teams are subjected to the same vigorous aerodynamics testing as GM vehicles. Facing speeds up to 100 km/h, athletes and coaches test, film and analyze various race positions and techniques with the goal of improving ski race performances on the World Cup circuit.
As the official sponsor and exclusive vehicle provider to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team and the Pontiac GMC Cup series, this is one more way that we hope to propel Canada's ski athletes to the top of the podium.
