Ski Television:
Pole Plant Trick
Here's a little trick I use sometimes to practise my timing. I imagine a straight line down the hill, each time I go across the line, that's where I plant my pole and I can use that approach whether it's a little bigger turn, like this or if we get into the nice shorties, you plant the pole right on the line.
So if you've been having trouble finding the rhythm lately, this little tip may be just what you need, you plant the pole each time you cross the imaginary centre line. That will ensure that you have your pole ready early. The other thing it does is it helps you to look ahead, when you look ahead, you always ski better.
In some places, you might even find like a groomer track, a windrow, a tiny little windrow or something like that and you can actually use that, you can see it in the snow, put your pole in the snow on that straight line.
So that's the idea again, we have a serpentine path running down the hill, right through the middle of that serpentine path is a straight line and right on the straight line, that's where we plant the pole. Give that a try, I hope it works for you, from beautiful whistler mountain, I’m Rob Butler.
