The ski season at Portillo Resort in Chile is just getting going as the North American skiers put away their boards for a summer! This home of the 1966 world championships has hosted top competitors and enthusiastic recreational skiers since 1910 when they used the newly inaugerated railway trains as lifts between Caracoles and Juncal - now the present day Portillo ski resort.
Chilean hospitality and top notch accomodations and restaurants right at the foot of the hill service vistors who come to Portillo to enjoy the mountain atmosphere and rugged scenery. The Alouette Helicopter awaits outside the fromt door of the hotel for those seeking a heli-ski experience or just a sightseeing tour.
The ski resort itself offers terrain for all skiers from the rolling cruisers, steeper runs with leads to great off piste possibilities to the Roca Jack, a black diamond run with some of the best powder skiing in the world! The Roca Jack is serviced by an unusual lift designed for Portillo known as the Va et Vient.
