World of Skiing:
Snowblades
You know I rarely editorialize. Good thing too you’re saying, right? But I have a few words today for people of my generation. You know who you are. Those of you who are in your fifth decade of life who can no longer enjoy a day on the slopes for what it is. Pure animal pleasure. Instead it’s more like a day on the set of Grumpier Old Men. And do you know what’s holding you back from feeling that joy that you once felt? It could simply be your equipment.
What you need is an afternoon on a pair of these babies!
Snowblades are what these are called. Whether you might have grown up skating on a catfish pond or a frozen river in Saskatchewan, you’ll get right on to them. If you are a skater it’s pretty much doing what comes naturally.
One little technical tip for you, don’t bother trying to skid, every turn should be carved. And here is the requisite technical information of my segment. Snowblades can help you to centre yourself, to feel what it is to carve those skis and change edge and all that kind of thing.
So when you do get back onto your long boring straight skis you’ll probably feel better. So it won’t be time wasted. The main reason that it won’t be time wasted is the "F" word. F-U-N. You deserve it.
