Oh, it'll happen. You know, you'll get to the top of the mountain and it's not the visibility you were hoping for. But we're going to deal with it. We've got a long traverse ahead of us here and you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to just focus on my balance.
Can't see too much so I want to really feel with my feet. And that's how we balance. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to get up out of your chair. I want you to stand on your feet. Now feel that your feet are relaxed on the floor. You're not curling up your toes, your toes aren't lifting so that you're touching the front of an imaginary skI boot. Your feet are flat on the floor.
This is what I try to feel as I roll along here. I’m using this opportunity and this long traverse. I can't see too much so I’ve got to feel my way along with my feet. So with the feet as a starting point then we add movement. Look, in the ankles, the knees, the hips. We bend the elbows, we bring the hands forward. But all of these movements we want to make sure that while we're flexing and everything we start with the feet. You've got to feel the feet first.
Lots of people when they press their knees forward you don't see the ankle bend very much. And I’m sure when I watch some of them that I can see that... That I can imagine the heel is lifting in that skI boot. Press the heels down, work with the feet first, then bend everything else. And I bet you, even if you can't see all that well. It's not ideal conditions. You have a run or two where you're feeling your way along with your feet you're going to skI better.
Flatten the feet in the skI boots as you extend to start the turn, as you flex to finish the turn, just try to feel that your feet are well-planted in your skI boots. Maybe it's a bit like sensory deprivation. We can't see all that well so we have to feel our way along with the feet. Subtle movements, balancing movements instead of power movements. And even if you're going to get powerful, be like homer simpson says. You want to be strong like a gorilla but soft like a nerf ball.
Try that. I hope it works for you.
